Stone Soup's mission is to assist women and families through individual, organizational and community capacity building projects.

Stone Soup strives to support individuals and rural communities that empower women to direct all aspects of their lives. Woman must be given the rights and the skills to make their own decisions regarding sexual and reproductive matters, finances, education, religion and employment. As the number of households led by single women increases, so must the access to living wage jobs increase. This requires an emphasis on the availability of job skills training. All forms of discrimination, both at home and in the workplace, must be eliminated. Entrepreneurship should be valued as a logical career choice for women. Girls must be taught that strength, determination, intelligence and a competitive spirit are positive attributes. They should also be taught that while the ability to think and act independently is vital to their success, it is also important to promote and maintain a strong sense of community. Social structures such as childcare, adult care and health care must be reconstructed to meet the needs of women and girls. And most of all, women and girls must be free from fear and all forms of violence.
